The first time I saw a Cricut was at my neighbors. She used it to cut some shapes and letters for scrapbook layouts. I wasn’t all that impressed and after asking how much it cost I was even less impressed. About a month later I was in my local scrapbook store and there was a sign up sheet for a Cricut class. I could not imagine what need there would be for a class on a machine that cuts out little shapes and letters. Once I started asking questions about the class and what they were going to learn I started opening my mind just a little. When the instructor for the class said “home decor” items, I realized there was more to a Cricut that meets the eye.
I searched YouTube for Cricut and WOW, I could not believe how many videos were available. The Cricut is so much more than a scrap booking tool and I knew I wanted one now! I bid on three Cricut Expression via eBay before I won mine and then waited anxiously for delivery. In the mean time I was watching video after video on YouTube and quickly realized I not only needed the Expression I needed a Gypsy too! Back to eBay I went and I am now the proud owner of a Cricut Expression and a Gypsy!!
While I have every intention of using my Cricut for scrap booking projects, I am very interested in the home decor items that can be created. I have found several great resources that offer message boards, tutorials and step-by-step how-tos. I will be placing links to those I found most helpful on various pages I have created on this blog. The Cricut community appears to be a very creative and innovative group, I am looking forward to participating!
